She tells me how much her thinking is interfering with her doing. Every time she takes a decision, though she is acting to transform this decision into something real, her mind keeps whispering

“Are you sure you took the RIGHT decision?”, “What if you are stuck?”,”Did you consider all the parameters?”.

She starts doubting, to a point the impact of her actions is diminished and her thinking is not effective.

When I am on the wall, climbing, when my all-or-nothing thinking interferes with my doing (typically when about to make a challenging move), I hear stuff like “you are going to fall” or “I am too pumped, I can not make it”). And this is usually when I freeze and ask my belayer to hold me. With a bitter taste of frustration, and another voice in my head shouting “Delphine, COMMIT!”

You need to make a decision. Stop for a sec. Take a decision. Then you focus your energy on making a step.

Life is full of plenty decision points. And we move between them.

In our frantic lives, we are tempted to multi-task, to think about the project we are in charge of while playing board games with the kids.

My invitation for you is to slow down.

Take a deep breathe in. Repeat. Once more. You are fully present. Here.

Now …

STOP & THINK.

OR

MOVE & DO.

And tell me … how decoupling Thinking from Doing is impacting your level of energy?

Love

Delphine
