When I was younger, so much younger than today (yes, I know my classics!), I largely graded myself based on how much I could achieve. My paycheck, the awards, the pats on the back. I wanted the world, the people I cared for, the people I was working with to notice me. And for a while, that worked for me. It fueled me. It made me feel fulfilled.
Or so I thought. Until the sandcastle collapsed.
And I had no choice but to ask myself “what kind of life do you actually want, Delphine? And how will you know when you are where you truly want to be?”
That’s when my entire KPI system shifted.
From external validation to internal alignment. From seeking praise to seeking growth. From fearing disapproval to owning who I am.
Here is the triptych that makes me feel alive:
- I start my day wondering “what could I do today that would make a difference?”
- I take one tiny step in that direction. Even when it scares me.
- I act in alignment with my values (fun + freedom + care)
And it does not have to be groundbreaking.
- Sending a few book recommendations to someone launching her consulting business.
- 30 minutes of yoga.
- Reading a few pages of a travel guide to dream up our summer holidays.
Nothing flashy. Nothing loud. No big numbers. No gold stars.
Just what feels right to me in that moment.
Some days I fail miserably. Other days, I shine. But over time, this is how I have built long-lasting and authentic relationships and brought meaningful (to me!) projects to life.
Now, your turn. What would you change today to make your life feel like an A+, not to anyone else, but to YOU?
I know it is hard. I fail and learn every day. The journey is not over.
But I know you can get there too. If you want it.
I believe in YOU. Be brave.
Delphine
