End of October 2022. Family day at Europapark, a well-know amusement park in Germany.

The teens : “We are so exciting Mum, we will ride the Silver Star! Last time we came here we were 5 and 8 and we were too young to go there! That’s so cool. The 4 of us on the Silver Star!”

Me: “Yeah, that’s very cool. I am very excited too”. Joke.

With a height of 73 meters and a drop of 67 meters, The Silver Star is not only a roller coaster. It is entering the category of the “Hyper coasters” and, at the time of its opening was one of the tallest coasters ever constructed.

As it overhangs the main parking area, it is the first attraction you see, before you even enter the park itself. The first thing you hear getting out of your car is people screaming while riding it.

And your level of adrenaline starts rushing, as you visualize yourself over there. Exciting for the kids and dad. Less for me honestly.

So we sprint to be amongst the first ones queuing for it … to find out it will open a bit later than expected. Looks like they found “something” during the morning dry runs and maintenance needs to intervene.

Good sign ? Bad sign?

“That’s OK Mum, we will do something easy instead”.

And this is how I ended up in tears, nauseous and in a not so good shape exiting the “blue-fire Megacoaster”, the so-called “easy” stuff that catapults you in 2.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h while turning upside down.

Not to mention the other 3 laughing at me!

And as the day passed and we were making our way one ride after another, we finally ended up on the Silver Star. End of the afternoon.

I seriously questioned whether I will go there but “Delphine, you are brave and strong, you can do it, you overcame many challenges in your life, and nobody died from it, the odds are in your favor, and worst case, you count the seconds, it lasts less than 4 minutes” …

Thank you Inner Voice.

AND I LOVED IT. I REALLY TRULY DEEPLY ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE. WOW. WHAT A THRILL!

You see,

I am regularly struggling with parenting, relationships in general and marriage in particular, how I spend my time and energy, building my business, and my well-being.

And so are my clients.

It is a journey. It is a rollercoaster. It is energizing. It is fun. It is scary. It is turbulent. It is fast. Or slow.

Some rides you will enjoy. Some you will hate.

What matters is you keep riding.

Love,
Delphine
