When I was first approached by a company to share my expertise in strategic, organizational, and supply chain matters, self-doubt kicked in strongly. Here I was, with over two decades of experience as a Supply Chain leader, managing multimillion-dollar projects for multi-billion dollar businesses, and yet, I questioned my ability to add unique value. The term “EXPERTISE” intimidated me.

But, voilà! My love for challenges and exploration took over, and I decided to embrace this opportunity. It involved engaging in spontaneous, in-depth conversations with senior leaders for a few hours each month, focusing on specific, targeted topics.

Breaking news: I don’t know everything about any single topic. Neither do you. And neither does anyone else.

The clients I interact with aren’t looking for a know-it-all. They seek engaging conversations with someone who has a SLIGHT deeper understanding than they have, and who can provide insightful perspectives.

And what a relief to realize that it’s perfectly acceptable, even beneficial, to admit when you don’t have all the answers! Saying “I DON’T KNOW” is an honest acknowledgment of the limits of your knowledge, and it opens up many ways for collaborative exploration and learning. My clients and I love it!

This journey led me to engaging in captivating discussions with a client on a topic that others might arguably be more knowledgeable in than I am: “How to create tangible value for customers through supply chain efficiencies while simultaneously growing revenue and profit for your own business?”

Never underestimate your expertise. Never undervalue your talents.

Be brave.

Love,

Delphine
